Biocard® Malaria PF Rapid Test

Trivitron Biocard Malaria PF Rapid Test is a highly efficient and reliable diagnostic tool designed to detect Plasmodium falciparum (P. falciparum) antigen in whole blood. Utilizing the principles of immunochromatography, this test kit provides a qualitative analysis, allowing for the rapid identification of individuals infected with the P. falciparum parasite, the most common and potentially life-threatening malaria parasite species.

The test kit comprises several segments that work synergistically to achieve accurate results. The test strip is coated with specific antibodies that specifically bind to the Histidine Rich Protein II (HRP-II), a target antigen produced by P. falciparum. When a blood sample from an infected individual is applied to the sample pad, it flows through the strip, carrying any present antigens.

The HRP-II antigens bind to the antibodies immobilized on the test line as the blood sample migrates along the strip. This interaction triggers the formation of a visible colored line, indicating a positive result for P. falciparum antigens in the blood sample. The line's intensity corresponds to the HRP-II antigen concentration, providing additional information about the severity of the infection.

To ensure the precision and reliability of the test, a control line is also included on the strip. This control line verifies that the test is functioning correctly and confirms that the sample has flowed properly through the strip. If the control line fails to appear, it indicates an invalid test, and the assay should be repeated.
