Introduction
The whole world was caught up in the clutches of a pandemic that shook our belief systems and medical infrastructure to the core. India had seen a drastic rise in COVID-19 cases in the second wave, raising concerns of a potential third wave. It is possible that the third wave may reach its peak in October and November, if proper guidelines, vaccination and social distancing are not followed. Irrespective of whether the third wave of COVID-19 comes or not, we need to be fully prepared.
The current scenario
We are battered and bruised, and now a new challenge awaits – The Third Wave. The third wave has raised a lot of rumours. It is estimated to majorly affect younger age groups with increased mortality rates. However, a lot of medical researchers are unclear and contemplating whether this wave will have a grave impact or fizzle out.
Finding Happiness in Uncertain times
Should we give in to fears and doubts? Or should we remain cautious? Here are few things you can do to keep yourself motivated in these unforeseen circumstances.
Stop watching negative news – First and foremost, quit watching the news that makes you depressed and gives you anxiety. Internet is filled with news that instils fear and negativity in our minds. Instead, read articles that motivate you. Listen to podcasts that enlighten you and gather knowledge on new subjects. A counter-intuitive measure goes a long way in fending off negativity and helps you stay happy!
Exploring hobbies – In this fast-moving life, we rarely get time for ourselves. What better time to explore your inner strength and skills? There are numerous benefits of investing time on yourself, psychologically speaking. Exploring your hobbies not only boosts creativity but also reboots your brain to help you think optimally and feel content and happy with your achievements.
Exercise – Exercising daily not only helps you to stay strong but also helps enhance immunity. It releases dopamine in your body that tackles stress and anxiety, changing your mood entirely and making you feel happy about yourself. Start small and work your way up. Better late than sorry. Make sure to follow a routine and stick to it.
Vaccination – The only weapon against COVID-19 is vaccination. Scientists around the world have asserted the importance of vaccines as it acts as the last line of defence against viruses. They are safe and research shows that they have no adverse effects. It is also important to follow social distancing, wear double masks, and avoid social gatherings to prevent the spread of the virus. Get vaccinated, and feel happy that you are contributing to the safety of yours and others!
